Team Spirit and Resilience Through a Challenging Season
With the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, we look back on an eventful year in the ADMIRAL Women’s Bundesliga. It was a campaign that was not always easy and demanded everything from us. Through team spirit, determination, and resilience, however, every challenge was met head-on.
New Faces in Blue and Yellow
The summer brought significant changes to the squad in Döbling. Key players such as Sarah Gutmann and Magdalena Rukavina left the club. In keeping with Vienna’s philosophy, the club instead placed its trust in a number of young talents from the region, offering them the opportunity to take the next step in their development at Hohe Warte.
The league season began in difficult fashion. Vienna opened the campaign with a 3–0 defeat against reigning champions St. Pölten. The response came just one week later, as the team recorded an emphatic 8–3 victory away to promoted side FC Südburgenland in a thrilling, high-scoring encounter.
The following rounds also produced plenty of goals, though not always the desired results. Vienna suffered a 5–3 defeat against Sturm Graz before falling 3–0 in the derby against Austria Wien.
Despite the challenging start, Vienna demonstrated its quality with a convincing 2–0 home victory over FC Salzburg. However, consistency remained elusive, and the results continued to fluctuate. It was only towards the end of the autumn campaign that the Blue-and-Yellows found greater stability, highlighted by a hard-fought draw against league leaders Austria Wien.

A Fresh Start in Winter
The winter break provided an opportunity to analyse and address the challenges of the previous months.
Head coach Mark Dobrounig and his coaching staff worked tirelessly to prepare the squad for the second half of the season—a commitment that would soon pay dividends.
Cup Exit Despite Dominance
Vienna began the new year with a cup tie against Sturm Graz.
The Döbling side produced an impressive performance and controlled large parts of the match. In the end, however, two set-piece situations proved decisive and handed victory to the visitors.
Vienna Embark on Impressive Winning Run
The team refused to let the cup disappointment derail its progress and responded with a 1–0 victory over Neulengbach.
The remaining three matches of the regular season against Kleinmünchen, Altach, and LASK also ended in victories. Despite this strong finish, Vienna narrowly missed out on qualification for the Championship Group.
Following a longer break, the Blue-and-Yellows opened the Qualification Group campaign with a commanding 3–0 home win over Blau-Weiß Linz/Union Kleinmünchen.
Further victories against Altach and Südburgenland followed.
In the final match of the season, the team once again demonstrated its character and fighting spirit. Twice trailing against LASK, Vienna battled back to secure an impressive 3–2 victory.
The club won every league match played in 2026, bringing the season to a close with a remarkable winning streak and heading into the summer break with confidence and momentum.
A Team That Never Stopped Believing
Despite all the challenges faced during the autumn months, our women’s team fought its way back into the season together.
They demonstrated resilience, team spirit, and unity throughout a campaign that presented many obstacles. Their determination and commitment never wavered, and their performances in the second half of the season were a testament to their character.
