Vienna Strengthens Its Attack with Tobias Anselm
First Vienna FC 1894 has strengthened its attacking line with the signing of Tobias Anselm. The 26-year-old forward joins from WSG Tirol and brings considerable experience from Austria’s top division. In the upcoming season, Anselm will be hunting for goals in blue and yellow.
Development in Salzburg and the Step into Professional Football
Anselm joined FC Salzburg’s academy in 2013 and gained his first experience in professional football with FC Liefering. He made his debut in Austria’s second division in 2017. Overall, the Tyrolean made 44 appearances for Liefering, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists.
Move to the Bundesliga
Following impressive performances in the second tier, Anselm made the step up to the Austrian Bundesliga in 2020. He signed for LASK and was immediately loaned to WSG Tirol. In his debut Bundesliga season, he made 26 appearances and scored six goals.
After two years in Tirol, the striker returned to LASK in 2022. In the spring of 2024, he gained international experience with German third-division side Viktoria Köln.
Return to Tirol
Anselm returned to WSG Tirol in the summer of 2024. After two years and 39 appearances, he is now taking the next step in his career by joining Vienna.
With his attacking qualities, Bundesliga experience, and physical presence, the 26-year-old is expected to strengthen the Blue and Yellows' offense and provide important impetus for the upcoming season.
