Maja Keckeis Strengthens First Vienna FC 1894
First Vienna FC is delighted to announce another summer signing: Maja Keckeis joins Vienna from SCR Altach. The 18-year-old midfielder will wear the blue-and-yellow jersey in the future.
Keckeis moved from the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) Women’s Academy to SCR Altach in 2024. In her first Bundesliga season, the Feldkirch-born midfielder made 13 appearances and scored one goal.
In the recently concluded campaign, Keckeis established herself as an undisputed starter for SCR Altach. She featured in 20 league matches, recording two goals and four assists. She also demonstrated her strengths from set pieces, most notably against SK Sturm Graz, when she secured victory for her team with two goals from direct free kicks.
After two seasons with SCR Altach, Keckeis now makes the move to Vienna. She is expected to add dynamism and versatility to the Blue and Yellows’ midfield.
A Key Figure in Austria’s Youth National Teams
Thanks to her impressive performances and steady development in recent years, Keckeis has attracted considerable attention. She has been an integral part of Austria’s youth national teams for several years. As a regular starter for the successful U19 national team, she played a major role in helping Austria qualify for the European Championship.
Head coach Mark Dobrounig commented on the signing:
"Maja has a very exciting profile and fits our playing philosophy perfectly. She has tremendous potential and proved her quality on several occasions last season. Maja’s transfer once again underlines our philosophy, and we can hardly wait to welcome her to our team."
