Five Vienna Players Named to Austria’s U19 European Championship Squad
The UEFA Women’s Under-19 European Championship kicks off on June 27 in Bosnia and Herzegovina. First Vienna FC 1894 will be represented by five players in Austria’s squad, who will have the opportunity to showcase their talents on the international stage. The entire Vienna family wishes our girls the very best of luck and every success!
Vienna will have five representatives at the UEFA Women’s U19 European Championship. Vivien Grabenhofer, Anna Osl, Valentina Pötzl, Alina Kerschbaumer, and Denise Lueger have all been selected by head coach Markus Hackl for Austria’s squad. Another Vienna player, Lilah Havel, has been named as an alternate.
Vivien Grabenhofer joined Vienna from USV Neulengbach during the winter transfer window and immediately established herself as the Blue and Yellows’ first-choice goalkeeper. She played a key role in the team’s impressive winning streak during the spring campaign.
Anna Osl moved to Vienna from the ÖFB Academy last summer and showcased her talent from the very beginning. She did not miss a single match throughout the season, underlining her importance to the team.
Valentina Pötzl made her comeback this season after recovering from a serious knee injury and quickly impressed with strong performances. Thanks to her excellent technique and dynamism, she became an indispensable part of the team during the second half of the campaign.
Alina Kerschbaumer also featured in every match this season and developed into a decisive player for the Döbling side. She scored five goals during the campaign. Her performances did not go unnoticed, and she will leave Vienna this summer to join German club 1. FC Köln.
Denise Lueger arrived from the ÖFB Academy last summer and repeatedly caused problems for opposing defenses in the Bundesliga with her pace and finishing ability. She scored seven goals during the season.
We are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming European Championship in Bosnia and Herzegovina and wish the entire Austrian team the best of luck. Having five Vienna players included in the squad is a strong statement and a testament to the club’s excellent work. We can’t wait to watch you play!
