Santino Pistrol Takes the Next Step to Germany
A major step in Santino Pistrol’s career: the blue-and-yellow youngster is leaving First Vienna FC 1894 to join German Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim. The entire Vienna family wishes Santino all the best for the next chapter of his career.
From Döbling to Germany
Santino Pistrol joined Vienna in the spring of 2025 and immediately established himself as a key player in the defense of the Vienna Amateurs. In recognition of his impressive performances, Pistrol was awarded a professional contract with Vienna last summer. After further appearances for the club’s amateur side, he made his first-team debut at the end of November in the away match against Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz.
During the second half of the season, Pistrol became an undisputed starter in Vienna’s blue-and-yellow defense. In total, the 18-year-old made ten appearances in the ADMIRAL 2. Liga. In what was, for the time being, his final match for Vienna against Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz, Pistrol scored his first goal for the club.
Following in the Footsteps of Baumgartner and Co.
After one and a half years in a Vienna shirt, Pistrol is now taking the next major step in his career abroad. He has joined TSG Hoffenheim and will play for the German club in the coming season.
Hoffenheim is well known for its excellent youth development system. By moving to Hoffenheim, Pistrol follows in the footsteps of Austrian World Cup participants Christoph Baumgartner and Stefan Posch, both of whom used their transfers to Hoffenheim as a springboard to establish themselves in German professional football.
First Vienna FC 1894 would like to thank Santino for his commitment and dedication while wearing the Vienna jersey and wishes him every success and all the very best in both his sporting career and personal life.
We are proud of you!
