Jana Mayer Joins Vienna
First Vienna FC 1894 have strengthened their squad ahead of the upcoming season with the signing of Jana Mayer. The 24-year-old midfielder played for USV Neulengbach last season and brings the experience of 80 appearances in the Austrian Women’s Bundesliga.
Jana Mayer is the latest summer signing for the Vienna women’s team. The Tyrolean midfielder made her breakthrough in senior football with Wacker Innsbruck, where she gained her first appearances in the Women’s Bundesliga. After one season with FC Dornbirn, Mayer returned to Wacker Innsbruck and remained loyal to the club even after their relegation from the top flight.
Last summer, the defensive midfielder moved to the Vienna Woods to join USV Neulengbach. At Neulengbach, Mayer established herself as an undisputed regular, making 15 competitive appearances.
“Jana is a player who has always distinguished herself through her high level of professionalism and commitment. She is versatile and will be an invaluable asset to the team this season. We are very pleased to welcome a player with Bundesliga experience like Jana to our squad,” says Sporting Director Mario Graf.
