Home Game Under the Floodlights
This coming Friday, the Vienna women’s team will face league leaders Sturm Graz at Hohe Warte. After securing their first win of the season last weekend, the Blue and Yellows will be looking to build on that result on Friday. Kick-off is at 7:30 p.m.
Sturm Graz can look back on a very successful start to the season. With three wins from their first three matches, the Graz side sit at the top of the table. Their strong defensive work in particular has caused problems for their opponents so far. In attack, summer signing Brigitta Pulins has attracted attention with five goals.
Vienna Secure First Win of the Season
The Vienna women’s team celebrated their first win of the season in the last round. In their away match against FC Blau-Weiß Linz/Union Kleinmünchen, the Döbling side put in a composed performance despite extremely difficult conditions and won 2–0. Lilah Havel put Vienna ahead before the break, before Maja Keckeis doubled the lead shortly after half-time. Karla Kurkutovic provided the assist for both goals.
“Sturm Graz will be a strong opponent on Friday. They have made a very good start to the season and have been able to build up a lot of confidence. That makes it all the more important that we also approach the game with the necessary confidence. The win in the last round was very important in that respect. We know our strengths and what sets us apart as a team. If we can bring that mentality onto the pitch on Friday, we can also cause Sturm Graz problems,” said head coach Denny Krcmarek.
