Vienna Amateure Narrowly Defeated in Season Opener
First Vienna FC 1894’s Amateure suffered a narrow defeat in their opening match of the new Stadtliga season. In the away match against the FAC Amateure, Taha Uysal equalised the hosts’ lead just before half-time. However, FAC scored the decisive goal in the closing stages to secure a 2-1 victory.
To open the new Wiener Stadtliga season, the Vienna Amateure travelled to face the FAC Amateure. The Blue and Yellows were involved in a fiercely contested match from the outset, with both teams initially waiting for the opening goal.
Uysal Equalises Before Half-Time
The hosts finally broke the deadlock shortly before the interval. In the 42nd minute, Nico Felix put the FAC Amateure 1-0 ahead.
Vienna’s response, however, was not long in coming. Deep into first-half stoppage time, the Blue and Yellows found an equaliser: Taha Uysal scored in the 45+1st minute to make it 1-1 and ensure that the teams went into the dressing rooms level at the break.
The match continued to pick up pace after the restart. Layth Khidach was shown a yellow card as early as the 47th minute. In the 56th minute, Vienna head coach Amir Bradaric made a double substitution, bringing Poyraz Özmeral and Colin Fischer into the game for Taha Uysal and Kerim Krpuljevic.
FAC Decide the Match in the Closing Stages
Just after the hour mark, the Blue and Yellows made their next changes. Matteo Roschütz replaced Nicholas Nösslinger, while Dusan Urosevic came on for Layth Khidach.
The decisive moment eventually came in the closing stages. In the 82nd minute, Zareh Kaynak scored FAC’s second goal to restore the hosts’ lead.
Vienna tried to respond during the remaining minutes and introduced another fresh player in the 85th minute, with Mihailo Jovic replacing Jonathan Hager. However, the Blue and Yellows were unable to find another equaliser.
The Vienna Amateure therefore opened the new Stadtliga season with a 2-1 defeat. Despite Taha Uysal’s equaliser, the Blue and Yellows left Süßenbrunn empty-handed.
Head Coach Amir Bradaric:
“It was a very physical and scrappy game in which neither team was able to create many clear-cut chances. Unfortunately, we did not quite find our rhythm today and, particularly in possession, we did not show what had distinguished us during pre-season.
Nevertheless, the boys gave everything until the final whistle and put in a lot of effort. FAC were slightly more present in the challenges and second-ball situations and ultimately earned the victory as a result.
Of course, we would have wanted a different start, but we have a very young team that still needs to develop and will grow from matches like this. Now it is important to keep working hard and take the right lessons from this game.
I am convinced that the boys will continue to develop and that we will soon achieve the results to match.”
