About the Vienna Special Needs Team
True to the motto “Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” (Special Olympics Oath), First Vienna FC 1894 launched its Special Needs Team in March 2018.
This team aims to promote disability football and provide people with intellectual and physical disabilities the opportunity to express themselves through their favorite sport – free from exclusion or barriers.
From the very beginning, the team has been coached by two experienced trainers, Gerhard Entrich and Andreas Moraw. In addition to completing official ÖFB (Austrian FA) football coaching courses, both Vienna police officers also hold certification as disability sports instructors and have years of experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities.
The team, made up of 24 male and female players, regularly competes against national and international teams in cup competitions and tournaments. Training takes place every Wednesday at 7:00 PM at Hohe Warte.
Interested players are always welcome to attend a non-binding trial training session.
