Protection and prevention

Protection and prevention

Vienna is very aware of the challenges that working with children and young people entails. The protection of the players entrusted to us has top priority and always needs moments of critical reflection and courageous steps in everyday life.

For this reason, our protection and prevention approach includes both preventive measures to minimise the risk and reactive measures to ensure that concerns that arise are adequately addressed.

All caregivers at Vienna who work with children and adolescents must submit a special criminal record certificate "Child and Youth Welfare". In addition, all caregivers commit themselves in writing to comply with the Vienna Code of Conduct and are also regularly trained on the topic of prevention of sexualized violence.

It responds to the need to consider the interest and safety of the child in any football activity (e.g. decisions, behaviour, training, services, etc.) and to act in accordance with international standards as well as national law, especially in cases of suspected abuse that are considered criminal offences.

We have a very clear zero-tolerance policy, in which our prevention and safety concepts have the highest priority and there are no excuses or excuses for violence.

Our approach to child protection is based on six goals:

Developing a culture of attention
Design of a transparent training and sports situation
Examination of the suitability and qualifications of trainers and employees
Empowerment and involvement of children and parents
Intervention guidelines for dealing with suspected and incidental cases
Guidelines for players on how to deal with suspected and incidental cases
In drawing up its protection and prevention concept, Vienna works closely with independent counselling centres in order to receive professional support on this important topic.
